The nice thing about living at the beach year round is that in the off-chance that there is a nice day in the winter we can swing right by and enjoy it for a little bit. The hard part is convincing the kids that we will just be taking a "walk" and not bringing every toy, shovel, rack and bucket for our little expedition. It was my promise to Cameron, that after I returned from my trip out west, that we would go shopping for a pair of flip-flops for him to wear at swim practice. This was kind of a big deal because up to this point he in his life, has lived in solely Crocs.
Only last year did we add sneakers to his collections, which he excitedly would exclaim, "made him FAST!" This post is definitely one for the "personal" file, but I wanted to share because as the babies grow up I think it is so important to document the milestones that are not blatantly obvious; whatever they may be for your babies turned little kids. Like... buying your four-year old their first pair of flip-flops and taking them to the park and beach and letting them "try them out." He had me cracking up on the inside because I had no idea that this trip for flip-flops would turn into him using the park as his personal drill course for mastering those tricky little shoes. Here's to a winter day at the beach with my four-year-old and his flip flops.
