In the next two weeks the family and I are going to do something that we haven't done all year.
Relax.
Take the time to appreciate and love one another and reflect on what a successful, streneous, beautiful year it has been.
Many monumental things have happened for us this year both personally and professionally and we are so thankful that we will get to spend the holiday together and take a moment to breath and look back on all that we have been through.
I know that I have been distant but it is only because I have a lot of images that I have been working on, images full of the love and the life of my amazing clients. In the thick of the busy-ness that is my life sometimes it's hard to see through the fog of hours of editing but then...
Happy Holidays, see you refreshed in the New Year!
Peace and Love.
The last thing I remember was groaning about how this must have been the longest, coldest winter in Delaware in a LONG time. Then I turn around and there are wheat fields and summer sun! You may have noticed that things have changed since the last blogpost I had. So much has been happening, that I don't even know where to start. I made my new year's resolution and I was sticking to it, I was making some changes no matter what the cost. This new site is a continuation of the promise to myself to be more, well...me. It is going to showcase me, my personality, my photography, my community involvement and my photography in the best light possible.
A lot has changed, here's what's new and been going on...
-I officially have added Lifestyle Family Portraits to my repertoire...
-I have become active in a very cool little non-profit organization known as the Milton Delaware Farmers' Market.
-For the first time in the history of my business I have photographed a "Birthstory", details to follow.
-My blog posts now show up in abbreviated format, this allows you to find posts more easily. And when you click on the title of the post you can view it full-size!
-Updated BRANDING and WEBSITE!! Special thanks to the AMAZING website production team at Fine Line, I had a vision and you helped me see it through!
-In addition to all of this I am so excited for this wedding season, LOTS of Engagement sessions this spring have been taking place, stay tuned for full-posts.
Take a look around the new site and enjoy!
The nice thing about living at the beach year round is that in the off-chance that there is a nice day in the winter we can swing right by and enjoy it for a little bit. The hard part is convincing the kids that we will just be taking a "walk" and not bringing every toy, shovel, rack and bucket for our little expedition. It was my promise to Cameron, that after I returned from my trip out west, that we would go shopping for a pair of flip-flops for him to wear at swim practice. This was kind of a big deal because up to this point he in his life, has lived in solely Crocs.
Only last year did we add sneakers to his collections, which he excitedly would exclaim, "made him FAST!" This post is definitely one for...
Last week I packed up my camera and my notebook and travelled across the country to a place that before this point I never had any desire to visit. This is my first blog post since I returned and I am ready to open up and be honest. I want this to mark a new chapter in my life and my business. While I was in Las Vegas at WPPI (the largest "gathering" and tradeshow of professional photographers in, I think, the world) I had the chance to not just hear successful professionals photographers talk in their platform classes but to also take a closer look at myself and my vision for my life and my business. I had so badly wanted to attend last year to see what all of the buzz was about but couldn't.So I made it...
The kids saw me off very early in the morning and the trip was in my mind a wonderful, worthwhile success. I honestly didn't know what to expect not just with the convention but also with the traveling itself. Away from the kids for an ENTIRE week. I brought my notebook with me intending to take notes of all of the speakers that I heard and as soon as we got above the clouds (where the sun always shines), it was like a switch had been turned on. It all came rushing back to me. The memories. The feelings. Of my first ariplane trip out west when I was thirteen. I used to write a lot more back then-before the busyness of life, adulthood, parenthood caught up to me. I still have all of those black and white composition books of my youth-scribbled with everything and anything that was on my mind at the moment. It seemed like the older I got the less amount of "free" time I had to just be in my thoughts. This was so enlightening to me and I thought that if this was already hitting me then I was really in for some amazing insight during my work-cation.
With all of that said, I'll just summarize the rest of the trip in Vegas. Not to sound cliche, but this trip WAS life-changing in so many ways that are just unspeakable. It consisted of getting up very early every morning, going to bed very late and using up every bit of mental and physical energy I had in me.
I went out there with my goals and questions and ideas and I came back so inspired to just BE ME.
Yes, you heard it right.
It is officially my new years resolution/life-goal/whatever-you-want-to-call-it, to whole-heartedly just be MYSELF. It sounds silly, but I will elaborate more in future blog posts.
Needless to say, I am very excited for 2011 and this trip was a great kick-start for me and for what is to come this year in the business and my personal life and Vegas was not to shabby afterall, if I have to say so myself! Enough writing already, here are the few pictures that I took on my work-cation that documented my experience and marked the beginning a great new year!
Even though I'm a wedding photographer in Delaware, my second favorite love in life has to be baking. I know it's seems a little out of place to post my favorite recipes, but hey everyone needs a little something sweet now and again.
Here's to my four-year-old asking for pumpkin cookes served with apple cider just like he saw on the show with his favorite Big Red Dog.
This is my version thanks to Martha.
